What can different statistics tell us about coronavirus in Wales?
Here, โปรโมชั่น slotxo we update some of the key areas of data for measuring the pandemic and we also try to explain some of the different measures being used.
The number of positive tests is running at an average of 264 a day across Wales.
The week before it was 141 a day, and around 40 a day a month ago.
Public health officials are attributing this to the more transmissible Delta variant, particularly in north Wales.
The overall Wales seven-day case rate now stands at 58.7 cases per 100,000.
Younger people testing positive
There is a difference in the age profile we are seeing compared to earlier waves thanks to the vaccine.
Two-thirds of recent positive tests involve people under 30. A third are aged under 20.
In April and May, between 30-50% of positive tests involved the under-30s but that proportion has risen significantly since mid-June.
We can also clearly see how the higher case rates among the under-25s are driving the rates in those local authority areas where they are highest.
Latest data from tests involving school pupils and staff also shows 238 positive tests in the most recent week, half of them in north Wales areas. That is roughly 15% of all cases being reported across Wales.
Why do we look at cases per 100,000 going back about five days?
Because of a lag in test results coming back from PHW, we wait for those late results to come in before looking at what the picture is.
It's a bit like in football, waiting on a Saturday evening for all the final scores to come in before looking at the league tables.
The case rate is only a snapshot of the virus out there as it relies on people asking for a test. Others may have the virus and not know it, as they are asymptomatic.
